Our guests have loved La Louche! Here are some of their comments.
"We had never been to France so didn't know what quite to expect nor where to start our adventure. We knew La Louche was in a great area of Provence, a legendary area of France for all foodies but we were worried about keeping our little six year old boy occupied as well. But we needn't have worried as La Louche catered for all of us. The caring hosts provided us with so much information prior to departure from Oz that we just knew we were in good hands!!
From the moment we set foot in La Louche we were all captivated by the historic charm of the house and it's surrounds. Our favourite spot at La Louche was lounging in the sunny courtyard watching the snow melting away on the top of Mt Ventoux in the distance. Our visit was during spring so we watched the La Louche garden come to life in the space of two weeks. We knew spring had sprung when the bees started buzzing around the barren wisteria at 7am in the morning as the sun rose. Every day more purple flowers seemingly burst out of nowhere on mass. Each day of our holiday started as a "choose your own adventure" day exploring another Provencal village. The brilliant bespoke guides provided by La Louche led us to a new discovery every single day of the week. Typically we'd toddle off around 10am then, following the obligatory castle and roman ruin visits with the small boy, grab a bite to eat at the markets and source ingredients for dinner. Dinner was then prepared slowly in our own time with recipes from the La Louche library and additional fresh lemon and rosemary flavour from the courtyard garden. After dinner our boy would pop out and say "bonjour" to the local children who welcomed him into their tiggy games. He also joined the local chess tournament at the Caromb library and even attended a Ju Jitsu class at a nearby village. He extended his palate and ate his body weight in juicy sweet strawberries, creamy cheese and fresh fluffy baguettes from the deli and bakery. The latter only brief footsteps up the winding staircase from La Louche, an adventure in itself.
We will never forget our relaxing time at La Louche which was our home away from home. The people of Caromb were so patient with our very poor (non-existent) French vocab but methinks our little boy charmed them and vice versa but it was never a barrier. We even found a magnificent castle with our son's namesake cathedral attached in one of the villages close to Caromb. We couldn't believe it! We were all smitten with La Louche and hope to go back again sometime soon. We had the unplanned relaxing holiday of a lifetime. Our hosts thought of everything at La Louche. If you want to experience all that Provence has to offer, La Louche is the perfect base. We only saw a fraction of what was on offer during our two week stay. But we will be back at La Louche sometime soon. Our little family holiday was simply magic!"

"We are home now and so glad that we discovered your home in Caromb. Both John and I and our guests had such a great visit. The village was so handy that we never had to use our car until we were leaving on an adventure outside of town. Now that we are home, what we miss the most is our daily stroll to one of the bakeries (or both!) as we are in the country and must use our car since nothing is within walking distance.
We will tell others about the Caromb area as it was not overrun with tourists but had nice people and several fun festivals while we were there.
We loved all the hillside villages, Mont Ventoux which we visited with each guest, the lavender near Sault and great regional wine. After tasting some wine on Crillon le Brave's terrace, we purchased a case of 6 bottles of 1717 in Vacquereyas which we enjoyed in Caromb and were allowed to bring home 2 bottles each in our non carry on luggage."

"Just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed our stay at La Louche. It felt like our home for the week. The village is very sweet and we had a pleasant time with the people there. I think you were very bright to buy in Caromb - not too big or small and relatively (at least when we were there) unaffected by the tourist hype. We discovered a watercolour painting group and took a class as the timing was right. Monique, the teacher, and the other students were delightful - none spoke English - they were very patient with our French and so friendly. We walked to surrounding villages and loved the country. Thanks again for letting your house to us - it is a real treasure."

"It was a wonderful week for the four of us. Timing so perfect to give us a little slower pace as we came towards the end of our seven weeks away. La Louche provided a real sense of home comforts for us and allowed us to get out and about each day to explore the beautiful countryside. Caromb is a breath of fresh, both Chris and I had our hair cut in the hairdressers in the main street, which was an experience in its self trying to communicate (but we did O.K). We enjoyed the availability of fresh croissants & bread from your bakery. We thank you for your attention to detail in the manner you operate La Louche and would certainly recommend family and friends to stay."

"Enjoyed a very lovely, peaceful (although wet) week at La Louche. The autumn colours of the countryside were spectacular. One can only scratch the surface in a week as there is so much to see and do. The house is lovely and extremely well presented. We have just spent 8 weeks in Italy in various apartments and villas and La Louche was the best as far as appliances and home comforts. Many thanks to the owners who provide what many of us only dream of."

"Just a brief email to tell you how thoroughly we enjoyed our stay in Caromb. The house is superb and we appreciated Caromb village life for the all too brief stay. You have done an excellent job in presenting the house and its contents to ensure an delightful stay. We particularly took advantage of the wisteria cloaked outdoor area as the weather was kind to us. Caromb is an ideal location to use as a base for sightseeing in Provence. We travelled quite extensively but no day trip over extended us.
Once again, our thanks for the La Louche experience."

"We had a wonderful week in La Louche and the beautiful village of Caromb. Your house lives up to everything you present on your website and more. I must firstly congratulate you on your directions which I duly transmitted from the back seat of our car to the driver, visuals included, and we arrived without any deviations! I was prompted to proclaim that only a woman could have produced such amazing detail. Ditto the photo re locking the front door! We loved the house, the village and the surrounding countryside. Our stay there was one of the highlights of our month in Europe. We especially enjoyed the meals we were able to produce – lunches on the terrace and dinners around the table listening to some great music. Loved wandering around the village and further afield, waking to the church bells in the morning and gazing across to Mt Ventoux - a different scene every day. We could easily have spent another week there. Many thanks for the effort you put in to making your house such a warm and welcoming experience. I truly hope we’re able to make a return visit one day."

"We have had a fantastic stay at La Louche. The house was perfect for our needs and we ate many happy meals in the courtyard. We enjoyed watching village life with a glass of wine or a pastis. Our highlights were a birthday lunch on the terrace at Crillon la Brave and lunch at La Bastide in Gordes. Two weeks hasn’t been enough so I’m sure we will return.

"We arrived back from our holiday last week and things are now back to normal. I just wanted to say that we loved La Louche and Caromb and thanks so much for all the welcome gifts and information. It was so comfortable there and I enjoyed the domesticity after staying in hotels. The only fault we could find was perhaps the steps, and a suggestion that maybe you could highlight the bottom step from the bedrooms to the living area as a couple of us missed it. I know you mention it in the info and I guess it’s a quirk of Provencal building!
We also enjoyed being able to walk out of the village and amongst the vineyards in 5 or 10 minutes! I walked to Crillon le Brave and back one day and that is a lovely walk.
We shall be recommending La Louche to our friends and many thanks once again.

"Everything worked flawlessly in La Louche. The layout was ideal for two couples to have privacy as well as having the main floor and the gorgeous terrace for being congenial. The boucherie as well as the close by boulangerie were both closed for most of our 2 weeks, but that presented no problem as we were out and about in other villages every day to buy a little Jambon de Paris, bread, etc. Four aux Chaux was very pleasant with the ideal weather everyday permitting seating on the terrace. Other places we enjoyed were Les Abeilles, Les Florets, Chateau Mazan for Sunday lunch, Graine de Sel in St. Remy, a routier type place on the road between Vaison and Crestet called Auberge de la Garenne for a very inexpensive menu on the large terrace, Clos du Patre was pleasant and good value."
We just loved your place and are awed with the work it must have required to get it so nice with the modern conveniences without destroying its charm.

“Les Premises is spectacular... we have had a wonderful time here. So over a bottle of Nuits-Saint-George burgundy - yeah I know, not local - here is my report.
Restaurants are, as expected, exceptional: Le Grand Pre ... exceptionnel, spent a good three hours there and am trying to get to Bistro du'O before we leave, loved Chez Serge today in Carpentras. How do you find these places? AOC - well we had a fantastic day in Avignon. You guys have to be here for the OFF Festival next year - wonderful atmosphere and loved the casualness of AOC, after a concurrent recommendation by Caves Nicholas in Avignon where we bought our non-local vins - there is only so much GSM you can drink!... And, finally, absolutely loved Le Jardin Du Quai despite spending 90 minutes to find it!
Locals have been a knockout. Had a great time at Festival de Figues, just hung in the main drag at Bar de Cours for about 4-5 hours and watched and drank etc, etc.
My morning sojourn at 6.30am uptown starts with espresso with Claudine at that bar, pick up the paper, a few baguettes and then home for petit déjeuner.
It’s also been wonderful having wifi here -it means I can have an extended vacation while keeping an eye on things!
btw Bernard's roast lamb from the rotisserie at Tuesday's market is a knockout!”

“Just wanted to let you know how much we all enjoyed our French holiday experience at La Louche. Your cottage was everything we hoped for and more!!! We all had a fantastic week in Caromb and beyond. The weather was great and it was so lovely coming home to your fantastic cottage every afternoon to prepare, eat and drink all the wonderful food and wine we had purchased at all the different markets in the surrounding area.
We especially loved the great courtyard and had most of our meals there. The bakery up the lane was yum and we got on so well with all the village people. We have brought home some fantastic memories from beautiful France.”

"La Louche was absolutely fantastic and I have since recommended it to some others although I note you are already fairly heavily booked this year. The restaurant was excellent for New Year and we visited many little restaurants nearby. Your directions were spot on, the house was great and exceptionally well appointed and had everything we needed when we did feel like cooking. We visited about 4 markets in the week (Caromb’s was probably the smallest at that time of year) and bought way too much food each time.
We did get lost/confused leaving the Avignon railway station for Caromb on day 1 but eventually made ourselves understood and we then just followed our nose and all was well. The weather was great – only 1 day with a very small bit of drizzle – certainly nothing to stop us doing anything – we probably had at least 4 lunches in the courtyard and thoroughly enjoyed the sun and solitude.
It was great and may well warrant another visit in the future. Returning to work was not easy!"

"We had a wonderful holiday and more importantly we loved your property and the village of Caromb - you really have something special there and maybe one day we will be able to stay there again."

"Just have to drop you a line to say how much we enjoyed our time in your wonderful house in Caromb. La Louche was so perfect. You had thought of everything a travelling tourist needs, from the washing machine down to the insulated picnic hamper, which we used constantly. We spent many an hour sipping wine and enjoying the glorious view looking out to Mount Ventoux from the spacious patio. La Louche is in a perfect spot, so handy to the centre of town. Caromb is such a warm and friendly village, people could not have been more obliging, our French is non-existent but with sign language and a few laughs we got by.
The house was so welcoming we really could have spent our entire week just strolling around Caromb but thought we really had to travel to all the surrounding areas. Thank you for the guides for market days, and information on the other towns, we put it all to good use.
Please do not hesitate to use our names as references for any future tenant. Thanks once again, and who knows what the future may hold. We may see La Louche again."
